How to sync only some community plugins on Samsung tablet / Android?

What I’m trying to do

I have a vault; I want part of it to appear on my android (samsung) tablet. This includes only some of the community plugins.

I can’t figure out how to use Obsidian Sync to sync only the selected community plugins on the tablet.

Obsidian and all plugins are updated.

Things I have tried

I have 2 .obsidian profiles: one for desktop and one for mobile (android).

On the tablet, I use the mobile profile. I have successfully limited the vault folders on mobile to only those I need on mobile (i.e., using “excluded folders” in Sync settings).

In the Sync settings on the tablet, I have (a) Active community plugin list set to OFF, and I have Installed community plugins set to ON.

I’d’ve thought this would be enough to make community plugins sync on the tablet.
But none of them are installed.

I have tried the docs, google searches, etc. but I can’t find any useful info.

What am I doing wrong?

For clarity, are both your profiles named .obsidian?

I have two as well, but I’ve given them different names.

  • .obsidian
  • .obsidia-mobile

I’ve never used Obsidian Sync, so I can’t help you with that, but I use git, and I’m able to keep my plugins separate by having the two separate profiles.

As far as I know it’s not possible to sync only some plugins — you sync all or none.

The compromise I use is one you tried:

What may be happening here is you need to restart the app (or run the “Reload without saving” command) to make the plugins appear in the installed list after being pulled in by Sync (if this is the case you will see them in the hidden folder .obsidian/plugins/ in your operating system’s file browser).

No, the 2 profiles have different names.

I think I figured it out. Somehow (certainly my fault), the .obsidian-android folder contains less than what I expected.

I will start again, create a new .obsidian-android profile folder, and see if that helps.
Will report back once I’ve done this.
