How to remove sync from lost device

What I’m trying to do

I have Obsidian Sync and I’m trying to add a new device to the sync. However, I am being told that I have exceeded the number of sync devices that are allowed. The old remote sync’s are associated with devices I no longer have access to (lost and destroyed).

There are two posts related to this:

Neither of them answer the question I have.

Things I have tried

The only thing I am about to try is to export my entire obsidian system, and settings. Delete everything and remove the sync options and then manually re-upload the obsidian system onto my obsidian sync.

There is no limit to the number of devices. There is a limit to the number of vaults. See here

If you problem is the latter, you need to

1. Have a backup
2. Delete the remote vault(s) you no longer use
3. Create a new remote vault
4. Connect your devives to new remote vault.

Since WhiteNoise said there is no device limit, and you are saying you were told you hit a device limit, can you show a screenshot of the message, to verify exactly what you are seeing?
