How to prevent File properties panel from opening automatically?

What I’m trying to do

After a recent update, I’ve noticed a change in behaviour when searching for files using tags. When I click on a search result, it not only opens the file but also automatically opens the File properties panel on the right side. Previously, I believe it would only open the file itself. I’d prefer to have just the file open without the File properties panel.

Is there a way to prevent the File properties panel from opening automatically when selecting files from search results? If so, how can I configure this?

Things I have tried

I’ve searched the forums for a solution but haven’t found anything addressing this issue. I’ve also looked through the settings, but I couldn’t find any options to control this behaviour.

This is not expected behavior. Have you tried to reproduce it in the sandbox vault?

Thank you for your response. I’ve managed to reproduce this issue in the sandbox vault. Here’s what I found:

  1. The issue only occurs when the Properties view is enabled in the core plugins configuration.
  2. To enable it, I went to Options → Core plugins → Properties view.
  3. By default, this option is disabled, which is why the problem isn’t reproducible in a fresh sandbox vault.

Hi. You can post a bug report here Bug reports. File properties should not open automatically even if Properties view is enabled.

Do you have “Properties in document” set to hidden?

I had it set to “source”. Further testing reveals:

  • “Properties in document” set to “visible”: Issue doesn’t occur.
  • Set to “source” or “hidden”: Problem persists.

Thanks for confirming. I’ve created one in the bug reports.
