How to make the tasks plugin not recognize alternate checkboxes as tasks

i am trying to create a task manager but any lines marked with alternate checkboxes within my vault are being recognized as tasks (such as - [*], or - [!])

is there any way to make the tasks plugin exclude certain types of tasks

Can you explain what you mean by “recognized as tasks”. Recognized by what, in which context?

And where/how do you want them excluded? Obsidian queries? Dataview? Or just directly in the Tasks plugin queries?

If you just mean in Tasks, there is a “Global task filter” and “Custom statuses” in the Tasks settings. Did you look at that documentation or try setting any of it up yet?

For example in the docs here, Statuses - Tasks User Guide - Obsidian Publish it explains how you can set up statuses to have a type, including “NON_TASK”. And some themes have some of this configured already (as I understand).
