How to detectnotes with the same name in different folders

Hello, everyone.

In Obsidian, I might have notes with the same name in different folders. Is there a way to detect or search for them?

Thanks for your help.

If you are willing to install the Dataview community plugin (you can turn it off or uninstall after) and enable JavaScript queries, you could try this:

Works great. I open my note with it in every month or so to check my duplicates and remove the ones I don’t want.

Or you can install the “Various Complements”. I will optionally autocomplete links without manually needing to type the [[ to start looking for a link. A much more logical way to create links. And when you do not want to make it a link you just keep typing. You will instantly see it when a pagename is in multiple folders as you will see multiple options to autocomplete it.
And it has also nice support for aliases using the TAB key.

I don’t see how that would help at all in identifying duplicate notes already in the vault, which was sibte8’s original question.

Like I explained in me response … I would suggest you read my whole answer before responding. That might do you got in real life also.
You might disagree it is the best possible solution but I do explain how you see duplicate pagenames.

Thanks for your help. This works great for me.

I use an external tool to check for existing duplicates.

And I use Obsidian’s core plugin Quick Switcher to avoid creating duplicates. When I enter an existing file name, it will open the file. If I enter a non-existing file name, it will create the file.
