How do you use UIDs in your notes?

I’m currently working on the upcoming version of Actions For Obsidian which, among other things, brings support targeting notes by UID. Work is coming along nicely!

But I have some related questions for the UID lovers among you:

  1. How do you usually add UIDs to your notes? By hand, by plugin…?
  2. What’s your preferred format of UID? Big int, timestamp, UUID…?
  3. Any must-know articles on the topic you think I should look at?
