I would like to create variables that are global across a vault that I can easily increment. For instance, how many pages have I read in 2024. Thanks!

you create individual notes for books with a property such as pagesRead – which number you need to manually update – and then you create a dataview query for a folder holding your books notes or globally for this property

property key = variable mentioned by you
property value: you update it

in the Share&Showcase section you can find posts and even demo vaults (i remember 2 at least from the last 30-50 days) where people dealt with books, book covers and possibly dataview queries in the downloadable vaults
