How - Auto open file every night

I’d like to return to my Obsidian in the morning and have it opened to a ‘home page’ type of file. I figure it would be nice to have it open over whatever is already there, so I could just close it and keep going where I left off from the night before. I don’t want a persistent home page because I like the blank of the ctrl-n new file screen. Closing ‘everything’ should take me to a zero distraction space. I only want to see the ‘home page’ once a day.

I have no idea how to have obsidian perform a time based action to open a file.
Or would there be a way to execute this from the outside? (Windows)

Without plugin:

  • before you close Obsidian, close unnecessary tabs, open a new empty one and then close Obsidian

With plugin:

  • Templater has the option “Startup templates”

But, if you want the app to be open when you come behind a computer, you need to use Task Scheduler on Windows. I am unsure if Obsidian (or its plugins) have these options.

Cheers, Marko

I don’t bother closing the app. I just walk away from the machine and come back to it in the morning. So it would be an open Obsidian that is still running.
