Hosting a lecture for my society at uni on friday, need help

I am going to host an introduction showcasing obsidian to students on friday i only have an hour to do this, what things do you think is the most important / engaging parts of obsidian?

  • a local solution
  • a text format widely use
  • a versatile solution

the combo of structured (yaml) and unstructured data (text/content) is why i love markdown. There are many markdown editors, but i like how obsidian both leaves my yaml alone and helps me enrich it

I like to emphasize its support for a wide range of setups from simple to complex. People often highlight the flashy, complex things that can be done in Obsidian, and I think it’s good to show that off, but it can also be used very simply, and using it very simply can still be powerful. Text, headings, links, and search get you really far. (And I don’t even use the full search often; mainly I use the filename-searching Quick Switcher.) Sometimes the great power of customization it comes with is only needed to dial things in, solving a few annoyances with minor CSS snippets and community plugins.
