Use case or problem
Sometimes one needs to revise the highlighted points of a note, and the current way is to scroll through the note to sea them all.
Proposed solution
It would be helpful having a sidebar view that collects highlights of a note, like the footnotes view does for footnotes.
It can be considered even a “summary” of a note.
With the new color highlights, it would also be a great feature to add a color to them to identify (like a callout left border) or maybe even filter by color.
Current workaround (optional)
Currently you can embed a search for the highlight with a regex, but to narrow it down to the current note you have to add the note’s name, so it isn’t reusable between notes without modification.
There is a plugin called Sidebar Highlights that collects highlights (and %% comments!) on a sidebar panel, but it still doesn’t differentiate between highlights with different emoji colors in a note yet. It does have other features (commenting, tasks) that while nice to have, add some performance issues on bigger vaults, particularly on mobile.
