Hierarchical Tag Organization in Obsidian

Hierarchical Tag Organization in Obsidian

I would like to suggest a feature for Obsidian that allows hierarchical organization of tags. Just as users can move folders within other folders, it would be great to have the ability to move tags so they can become sub-tags of other specific tags, and vice versa.

This feature would enable users to create a more organized structure for their tags, making it easier to categorize and locate notes. Additionally, it would be useful to have a security interface that prompts for confirmation when making such changes, ensuring that all tags and sub-tags are updated accordingly.

Implementing this feature would provide a new level of organization in Obsidian and greatly enhance note management.

Have you already tried the Tag Wrangler plugin?

Have you tried using tags with the other properties in yaml to create hierarchies. say #writing and [field:craft].

Obsidian already has hierarchical tags: https://help.obsidian.md/Editing+and+formatting/Tags#Nested+tags, tho not the drag-and-drop feature.

It just strikes me as odd that folks can’t grok the other properties.

Nested tags silo content.

Using a combination of yaml fields creates a more flexible and dynamic way to create hierarchies and reduce silos.

Unless, of course, I’m wrong…
