Use case or problem
I currently use Obsidian to store information about relevant research papers by making a page for each paper. I love the new properties design and being able to e.g. search for files with a tag using only a single click.
However, I make extensive use of hierarchical tags, which means that there is a lot of repeated information on the screen (shown below).
Proposed solution
It would be great to have an option to group tags (e.g. in rows) by their top-level hierarchy:
Additionally, I can imagine that many users have tags which are purely for specific search features, and are clogging up their properties panel in much the same way. If a similar option was given to hide specific top-level hierarchies in the properties panel, then these users could group all these tags under a hierarchy to remove them from view.
A toggle could be put under the tags property button to switch between ‘simple’ (current) view and ‘hierarchies’ view.
I figure that it may also be possible to implement something like this in a lightweight plugin - I had a look around existing ones, but it looks like there’s not much for further customisation of the properties panel.
