Functionality in a peer-to-peer network with Diskstation network folders

Dear all,

With my limited knowledge, I look after three desktop computers and a Synology Diskstation 214+ in our office, which are connected via Fritzbox in a peer-to-peer network. Now I’m gradually switching all the computers from Windows to Debian12. I started with mine and activated Obsidian as an app image to replace a Windows note-taking software. With regard to future shared use, I have stored the two vaults that are needed on the Diskstation, which works without any problems from my computer. Not so with the second machine, which I upgraded to Debian 12 yesterday: there I can neither open one of my existing Vaults, nor even create a new Vault on the Diskstation - in fact Obsidian says “Create LOCAL Vault” - do you have any idea what the problem might be?

With thanks and greetings
Heiner

Can’t you choose Open folder as a vault and then browse for the vaults stored on your DiskStation?

Unfortunately no - it lets me navigate to the disc station and apparently select the folder - but after the last confirmation it is not selected and no Vault is connected.

Maybe Syncthing (https://syncthing.net/) is an option. Besides that, I probably don’t have a solution/idea for now.

Thank you very much - I will try that!
