Things I have tried
In the standard template, footnotes look like footnotes in editing mode, but when you switch to preview mode, they essentially lose their “footnote” formatting and appear just like everything else.
I don’t much care what the footnotes look like (although quite similar to the way they look in edit mode makes sense to me), but they should, by default, look like something other than just ordinary text.
