Follow link under cursor doesn't work for Markdown links

Steps to reproduce

  1. Make sure that “Use [[Wikilinks]]” is off
  2. Create a file named foo and a file named bar
  3. Create a link from foo to bar: [bar](bar.md)
  4. Position the cursor inside the link (either the name or the link part)
  5. Press the Hotkey for Follow Link under Cursor (or use the command palette)

Expected result

The note is opened.

Actual result

Nothing happens.

Environment

  • Operating system: macOS 10.15.6
  • Obsidian version: 0.9.17

I have decided to write a bug report for this, because I believe it is more of a bug than a feature request. However there is this feature request related to this bug: Make "Follow link under cursor" hotkey work for external links

Please add your support to that feature request. This is not a bug.

I have. I still think it’s a bug. Markdown links are a core feature of Obsidian, as is follow link under cursor. They don’t work together. Two features not working together is a bug, right?

Maybe by some interpretations. The way we use Bug Reports is to refer to glitches, errors, and issues in things that have been implemented, not to capture things that have not been implemented.

Put another way: a thing can’t be both a bug report and a feature request. This causes clutter and redundancy.

Thanks for the clarification.
