Hello,
I have beed attaching files inside my notes and apart from images I was adding .log and .txt files.
I had to change the laptop and when I opened the vault on the new machine the files were showing as “file.log” could not be found
It is strange because I have the vault open on an IPAD as well and the files are there.
The other strange thing is that it is only the text files (.log and .txt) . The images and PDFs are visible.
Any ideas ?
Some things to try…
On the new machine, you do you have Settings > Files and links > Detect all file extensions turned on?
And is your syncing method set to include .log and .txt files? In Obsidian Sync, it’s under Settings > (Core plugins) Sync > Sync all other types, and both devices would have to have that turned on.
If the above are already on, then look in the finder/file explorer to see whether the .txt and .log files are shown there. If they are shown there, then make sure they’re not being moved off the device and into the cloud by a syncing service (iCloud, OneDrive, Google Drive, etc.), because that makes them inaccessible to Obsidian. You can prevent that by setting the vault folder to “keep downloaded” or “on device” or similar phrase used by the sync service.
… Still not showing up in Obsidian? Then what OS and what syncing service(s) are you using?
