Steps to reproduce
- Start Obsidian with the File Explorer visible in the left sidebar.
- Open the Search view from the left sidebar.
- Close the Search view.
- The File Explorer tab has disappeared from the left sidebar.
The problem occurs repeatedly.
Did you read and follow the Troubleshooting Guide ? [Yes/No]
Yes
Expected result
The File Explorer tab should remain visible in the left sidebar after closing the Search view.
Actual result
After opening and closing the Search view, the File Explorer tab disappears completely from the left sidebar.
The left sidebar itself continues to work normally and can still be opened and closed.
Environment
SYSTEM INFO:
Obsidian version: 1.13.7

Login status: not logged in
Language: ja
Insider build toggle: off
Live preview: on
Base theme: dark
Community theme: none
Snippets enabled: 6
Restricted mode: on
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Custom theme and snippets: for cosmetic issues, please first try updating your theme and disabling your snippets. If still not fixed, please try to make the issue happen in the Sandbox Vault or disable community theme and snippets.
Additional information
The File Explorer core plugin is enabled.
Disabling and re-enabling the File Explorer core plugin does not restore the File Explorer.
The issue occurs in Restricted Mode, with no community plugins enabled.
I also tried renaming the existing workspace.json and allowing Obsidian to create a new one. This restores the File Explorer temporarily.
However, after opening and closing Search again, the File Explorer disappears again.
So the behavior is reproducible:
File Explorer visible
→ open Search
→ close Search
→ File Explorer disappears
After the File Explorer disappears, there is also no “Show File Explorer” command available in the Command Palette.
I searched the forum for duplicate reports, including searches for “File Explorer” and “closing Search”, but did not find an exact match for this behavior.
I can provide a screen recording or additional information if needed.
