Failed to open ""

thank you-its fixed. almost gave me a heart attack!

Get here because of the same issue. The fix at the moment is super fast and easy (as said up here by other members):

Just open the note with the issue with any text editor, and add a line break at the beginning (or anywhere you want).

I just wanted to add that I didn’t even have to restart Obsidian. Just by adding a line break the note then opened within Obsidian without issues.

A temporal workaround to fix it in seconds

adding a line didn’t work for me - it worked once, but after I just switched to another note and navigated back within one tab it continued to failed to open

and I also have many notes that are failed to open

adding a line or random text in the .md file only worked once for me too.
I don’t have the problem on most of my pages it seems random. I tried copying the .md file and replacing; that seemed to work once, but then not. It’s a really frustrating issue. I think I’ll have to go through the rigmarole of going back to previous version.

Ok; I have deleted the .asar files from ā€˜AppData\Local\Programs\Obsidian\resources’

I then uninstalled Obsidian and reinstalled version: 1.8.4

This had no effect on the problem: still can’t open effected files

For me only adding the new line to the end of the file worked (not the beginning)

Adding my 2 cents:

This worked for me as well.

However, the next day, opening the same file I got the same error. I repeated the procedure, adding a line to the file, and then it would, again, open normally.

Perhaps not specific to this occurrence but i’m seeing this error message Failed to open ā€œā€ with the ā€˜PDF++’ plugin

As a note for future peeps, make sure you check for any and all 3rd party plugin updates. In my case, an outdated pdf++ ver. was causing the error. Toodaloos!

Tbh this is unnaceptable! If we want Obsidian to be our only source of note taking this kind of errors… if it is corrupted and we can’t use our info what is the point?
