URLs in graph view

It would be nice to have the ability to see related external links (URLs) to notes inside the graph view.

I have a lot of notes with some internet links inside, It would be nice to have a filter (like the “tags” filter) to be able to see them.

As an exemple: for “https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat” it would add a “en.wikipedia.org” node connected to all the notes that have a link to “en.wikipedia.org” and its subpages.

Down below a mockup with the pages Cat, Dog and 42 of wikipedia.

In the long run, this would allow all the notes that come from the same source to be linked.

What do you think about it?

Pardon my English, I’m French :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I don’t found any feature request related before posting.
However, there is the same request for a plugin here.

There is also this plugin request: Can show URL in graph

Thank you!
I just edited the post to mention it.

Like I said, I think it’s better to just have this feature as a filter in the graph view, like the “tags” filter but with another node colour.

As it happens, this is already possible: you just have to create links without https://.

Interesting!
If I understood correctly, you achieve this by creating a link to a note that doesn’t exist yet. It’s almost a hack to get this feature.

However, when I tried I got this :

The purpose of this feature request is to have a single node, let’s say en.wikipedia.org, to link all the notes with a wikipedia URL inside.
In this exemple:

would be linked to a en.wikipedia.org node, by truncate the rest of the URL, to just get the hostname, without the uniqueness of all the pages (/wiki/Cat, /wiki/Dog, etc…).
See the result.

So, yes, it will work if I add manually another link (to the same hostname without https://) to all the notes, but it would be painful and at the end really difficult to track.

Therefore, I propose to do it automatically in the graph view.
By adding a dedicated filter to group the URLs by hostname.
This would allow a better visualization of the links between the notes.

I guess:

  • tags: (#\S+)[\s\n]
  • URLs: https?://(S+)/

I would also like this!

This would be a fantastic feature! Helps to turn obsidian more into something like The Brain does.

Any update on this feature request ?

Yeah I’d like this to be a feature as well

Does anybody know if there have been any plugins or native functionality that can do as described above?
