External link shortcuts?

I often have to include links to a set of github issues/PRs, and internal bug trackers.
I’d like to have a way like github’s autolink feature to specify that strings like say “foo/bar#299” should be rewritten into a link to https://github.com/foo/bar/issues/299 and so on.

I have had a hard time finding discussion about this, probably because “autolinking” means something different to many folks here.

Does anyone have pointers to a way to get what I’d like?

You can try the Linkify plugin. It may be close to what you are looking for.
