Use case or problem
Firstly, really thank you for such a powerful tool in Obsidian. Canvas is really a game changer.
I would like to suggest a new option in setting or maybe in file-menu, to export the canvas file so that we can share it with others. But it should have all the embedded notes and other documents zipped within the canvas file itself.
Right now, I can simply keep adding my content by creating cards into the canvas and then will easily able to share this content. But, if I have added any images or any other documents into the canvas, I won’t able to share it.
Proposed solution
Import/Export functionality : If its not possible to zip everything with the .canvas
file itself, then the export option will zip everything and will create a new file, say .canvas.zip
. Now I can simply share it with my friends and then my friend can import it into their vault and will still be able to see all the content.
Note : Importing shouldn’t create all the notes into the vault, it should simply show a single .canvas
file itself in the vault.
Problem : The internal links which are linking to one another within the canvas should work. The only problem will be, if any internal link is pointing to a note, which is not there inside the canvas. For that, a message should be shown : “The link points to a note which doesn’t not exists in the canvas and might had been inside the original vault, from where this canvas was exported”.
Current workaround (optional)
