Erratic handling of nested square brackets

I think this might be resolved in 1.7.2

YEs this is the same bug as the other two recent BR. I asked because I am surprised why all of a sudden we are getting people reporting this. I was wondering if there is a common pattern. Anyway, will be fixed in 1.7.2
