Enable customizable arrow direction between a Canvas and notes within it in the Graph view

I am writing to request an option to freely set the arrow direction of links between a Canvas and the notes inside that Canvas in the Graph view.

Previously, when I manually added internal links in notes within a Canvas, the arrow in the Graph view always pointed from the note inside the Canvas to the parent Canvas.

With the newly launched feature:

  • Backlinks in Canvas files are now detected. They are now shown in the backlinks view, and counted as links in the Graph view.

The arrow direction has been reversed to point from the Canvas to the notes inside it, which has brought great confusion to my daily usage.

I sincerely hope you can add the option for users to independently choose the arrow direction as described above.

please,

please,

please.

Could you please add an option to disable the automatic graph connections between a Canvas and the notes inside it? This would be very helpful.

If a note links to a canvas, you get an arrow going from the note to the canvas.

If a canvas embeds a note, you get an arrow going from the canvas to the note.

If a canvas embeds a note and that note links to that canvas, you get a link with arrows on both ends.

This is correct and consistent to how links (and arrow direction) works among notes.

Thank you very much for your help.

So could you please add a toggle to disable this feature?

  • Backlinks in Canvas files are now detected. They are now shown in the backlinks view, and counted as links in the Graph view.

The links generated by this feature are inconsistent with the direction I normally use in my graph view, which causes confusion.

I don’t think this will happen but we will keep this feature request open to get more feedback.
