Empty folders are automatically deleted

What I’m trying to do

I’m creating some folders (e.g. an inbox folder) that can be empty at times (e.g. after processing). Whenever I close Obsidian and these folders are empty, the next time I open Obsidian the folders have been removed from the file system.

I am syncing between an Android mobile, a Windows laptop and a MacBook. To my knowledge, none of them have settings to automatically delete empty folders.

Things I have tried

• I have found this closed thread in the forum (https://forum.obsidian.md/t/empty-folders-disappear-when-reopening-obsidian/63884), but the difference is that the poster didn’t have the folders deleted, only disappeared in the Obsidian UI. In my case the empty folders are removed.

• As a workaround, I have created an empty note in these folders, but this is not ideal.

I’m not sure how to help you, but based on the information I have and what’s missing, what do you use for syncing? Obsidian Synch or some other solution? Git, Cloud, … could be that, similar to Git, if you do not specify, it doesn’t sync empty folders.
