Emojis wont insert on iPad Pro

When trying to insert an emoji from the emoji chooser on the iPad Pro nothing inserts. Steps to reproduce:

  1. Place cursor in the document (my case the title line)
  2. Bring up the emoji picker.
  3. Search for emoji.
  4. Click on the desired emoji.
  5. Nothing inserts into the document. Expected result emoji is inserted.

Work around, do the same process into a junk.txt file in Textastic, then copy and paste the emoji into the Obsidian file. Would rather not have to do this, but it works.
