Emoji ZWJ sequences rendered as component characters in editor

Steps to reproduce

Paste or insert an emoji containing a ZWJ (U+200D) into the editor, e.g.

Expected result

The editor displays the emoji as a single character.

Actual result

The editor displays the component emoji and a red dot for the ZWJ:
