### What I’m trying to do

I want to create a link to a file outside of my vault in a note with drag-and-drop. It never works no matter what kind of file. I always get the red circle sign. It is supposed to be so easy, everybody is saying online.

### Things I have tried

I read the forum, reddit, AI, to no avail.

Turn of plugins, run Obsidian with admin privileges, use not only ctrl but shift key at the same time.
I don’t have a clue how to get it fixed.

It’s much appreciated if I can get it to work.
Thanks for helping me!

1. Can you please run the “Show debug info” command inside Obsidian and share your results?
2. Where are you storing your vault, exactly? Is it in OneDrive, or another 3rd party sync tool?
