Display text preview box when using pipe obscures content beneath

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create new note in an existing vault. Populate note with text content sufficient to cover more than one line (eg blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah).
  2. Reference previously existing note within text (eg blah blah blah [[previously existing note name]] blah blah blah etc).
  3. Edit display text by using pipe (eg [[previously existing note name|displayed name of previous note]]).

Display preview box appears over text, obscuring it.

Additional information

This has only become an inconvenience since an update - I wonder if it is possible to turn off? I have tried switching “Page preview” off but that appears unconnected.

Perhaps more of a feature request - or rather optional removal of a feature - than a bug per se.

I think that what your screenshot shows isn’t the page preview but the suggester to autocomplete (based on a potential alias stored in an aliases key in Properties) the internal link you’re currently editing (as your cursor is sitting within the internal link and it seems like you didn’t “accept” the display name you wanted for that link) … and I don’t think the suggester is tied to Page Preview in any way

You can close it by hitting esc on your keyboard though .

Thanks - is there a way of switching off the auto-complete suggestion preview box? It is merely displaying what I am typing, which is irritating as it obscures the text beneath (and in any case I can already see what I am typing) - it is unnecessary clutter.

I’m sorry but not that I know of :woman_shrugging:
