Forced tabs are the main problem I have with using Obsidian. Often, a new tab will have appeared and I have no idea why, and it completely breaks my workflow and thus my flow of thoughts. It’s not the 1990’s any longer. We can instantly open documents, from immensely fast drives. There is no need to force tabs on everyone. We’re not cavemen who need stickers to see we have more documents, especially since that is duplicated information as all our documents are in the tree.
I looked into creating a plugin to remove tabs, but they have tendrils all through the system, making it hard to even see how a plugin can navigate all of that in a reasonable manner.
It’s really causing me issues in my daily operation of Obsidian, which is a shame since so much else “just works”, and otherwise Obsidian isn’t actively trying to get in the way of my workflow.
