Did footnote functionality change recently?

I’ve been using footnotes in Obsidian for a while. The way I remember them working is that the link itself would render as a super-scripted number which when clicked would take me to the text of the footnote itself, which I could put at the bottom of the page. And similarly, I remember being able to click the number ahead of the footnote text at the bottom of the page to jump back to the reference in the text above.

But today when I created a footnote, neither of those links seem to work. The footnote created as usual when I typed [^1] in the text, and it formatted when I left the line as anticipated. The footnote at the bottom of the page also formatted correctly when I prefaced the text with [^1]: as I’ve done before. But neither of the links seem to be working as they did before.

Am I misremembering? Did something change recently? Thanks in advance.

The jumping when clicking on footnotes only works in Reading view. Could that be it?
