Desktop, macOS: Tags Sidebar Search, List Disappears

Steps to reproduce

Hello,
I’ve noticed that when I use the search function in the Tags sidebar, certain user flows appear to wipe out the whole tags list with no way to get it back. Two primary ways I’ve found:

  • Search for any non-existent tag (no results)
  • Type a search and then change mind (delete)

There may be a way to reset the Tags sidebar UI? But if there is one, it’s beyond my intuitive.

Any guidance appreciated. Thanks.

Did you follow the troubleshooting guide? [Y]

  1. search for pre-existing bug reports
  2. Check version(s) including installer
    • 1.8.10
  3. Files are local
    - “complete local copy of your vault”
  4. Update any themes
    • Using default
  5. Update any Plugins
    • Have not yet turned on community plugins
  6. Restart Obsidian
  7. sandbox
    - Desktop: Try sandbox vault
    - same behavior

Expected result

Expect clearing a search in sidebar would restore original full list of tags

Actual result

List appears to disappear without way to retrieve.

Typing any character in the search box seems to repopulate the list, as long as the character matches any of the existing tags.

Strange bug…

Ah, yes! Typing any known tag (getting a result) and then pressing ESC brings back the original list. Very helpful workaround in the meantime. Thanks!

thanks

will be fixed 1.9. No ETAs.
