Deleting multiple files in File Navigation pane

Steps to reproduce

  1. Reveal file navigation pane
  2. Select multiple files (which are then highlighted)
  3. Right-click and choose “Delete”

Expected result

The highlighted files are deleted.

Actual result

Only the file that was under the cursor when the mouse was right-clicked is deleted.

Environment

  • Operating system: MacOS 11.1
  • Obsidian version: v0.10.13

Additional information

Normally, when multiple files are selected (highlighted) in an application, a right-click applies the chosen behavior to all selected files. That is not the case in this situation. It is counter-intuitive and atypical UI behavior. Also, it’s inefficient, as I can’t figure out how to delete multiple files at a time.

there is a FR open for that. please search before posting.

Hi, @WhiteNoise. It seems we go around on this a lot. I always search before posting, but without having seen the prior FR post, my search terms aren’t necessarily going to find it. You probably have nearly every bug report and FR cataloged in your mind; I’m just guessing at applicable keywords.

If you can point me to the FR, I will link to it.

I never would have found that; it doesn’t refer to deletion or “file navigation” (Obsidian’s chosen term for the feature). Thanks for digging it up.
