Default vault setup - shared across vaults

Use case or problem

Feature for creating a default vault setup including settings, themes, snippets, plugins(including their settings) installed so that all new vaults will have these on creation (maybe even all exiting vaults).

So you dont have to install and setup everything with each new vault.

I have many vaults and when I find a neat new plugin/snippet I know I want in my other vaults, I would like an easy way to share that across vaults.

Proposed solution

Maybe an option for plugins, themes, snippets to Add to Favorites :heart: - this list would be obsidian-scoped not vault-scoped

When:

  • creating new vault - you could select from the list of favorites to choose which you want installed
  • opening existing vault - list of favorites is checked against existing vault setup- if something is not there an option to quickly add it would pop up
    • if you dont want a particular Favorite thing in your vault, you can Ignore it for no further notifications - this would be added to a per vault ignore-favorite list

Current workaround (optional)

Create a Default vault where you add all these favorite things and copy it instead of creating new vault

Do these existing feature requests not cover what you’re asking for?

If you already have a vault you can copy it, or just copy .obsdian in it, to start with that same setup.

i think we have the same goal in mind but i like my approach to a possible solution better

  • so its customizable - option to opt out specific plugins/snippets

  • plugins do not share settings across vaults, just are initially set the same way

this is not what im looking for - i want to have a list of favorites and being able to opt out of individual items - not just cloning a vault
