Daily notes folder organisation 2

As a member asked here:

I also observed that folders are no longer created as in the past.
I very much would like a folder structure as before, as that works quite well with my Day One export and allows me to use both apps at the same time.

Periodic Notes (a community plugin) has that functionality. I don’t believe the core plugin Daily Notes does.

I just checked and the behavior with that plugin is the same, the daily note gets created in the root journal folder, not in a year/month sub-directory.
Also there’s no option to re-enable that behavior.

It’s a little difficult to find the documentation for it, but it details on the plugin’s github page how to set up folders based on periods of time as you’re asking, e.g. in the FAQ, under the question “How do I use a variable in the folder path?”: GitHub - liamcain/obsidian-periodic-notes: Create/manage your daily, weekly, and monthly notes in Obsidian

Thank you, I could fix it.
I used “YYYY/YYYY-MM/YYYY-MM-DD” which worked in both the Periodic Notes and the included, default Daily Notes plugin.
I now have the same structure as my Day One export and am happy about it.
