When note is created from the editor pane (using Ctrl+N), the cursor is placed in the Title field, and after you press Enter it moves into edit pane. This is correct.
But if you create note from the File explorer (using New note button), the cursor just disappears. You should hit Tab to make it appear in the Title field and another Tab to move it into the edit pane. The same happens if you rename file in the File Explorer.
I’m pretty sure, the cursor should go to edit pane right after creating/renaming file in File Explorer.
