There’s a plugin I use that works okay, but there hasn’t been any activity from its developer in a while. I have had 5 PRs sitting with no response since May, fixing things like dark mode and stylability. I’m trying direct email now.
What must I demonstrate to take over an existing name of a plugin in the contributed-plugin list?
i would talk to the current repo owner about becoming the maintainer. otherwise, fork the repo and make your own new version.
We don’t have specific criteria, it’s on a case by case basis.

Thanks, but it isn’t necessary. Tracking down the current owner’s personal email address worked. I do not feel the need to adopt it now.
