Clicking the Daily Note creates a duplicate note when using automatic subfolders

Steps to reproduce

  • In Settings > Daily Notes, set the date format to /YYYY/MM/YYYY-MM-DD to automatically create year/month/day subfolders for daily notes
  • Click the Open today's daily Note icon in the sidebar twice
  • two daily notes are created - e.g. 2025-05-07-1 and 2025-05-07-1

  • a single daily notes is created e.g. 2025-05-07-1, or opened if it already exists

Community plugins: for bugs, please first try updating all your plugins to latest. If still not fixed, please try to make the issue happen in the Sandbox Vault or disable community plugins.

Correction - * two daily notes are created - e.g. 2025-05-07 and 2025-05-07-1,
while a single daily note is expected.
(if the Open today's daily Note button is clicked 5 times, there will be 5 daily note files named differently)

This was already reported long ago. It isn’t exactly a bug because it isn’t supported.

And as a workaround, I believe Periodic Notes plugin does support this structure.
