Problem
The problem is that with the current Canvas implementation, to change the color of a node, arrow, or group, you have to click on the node/arrow/group itself, and then click the palette icon to open the color palette and select the desired color. This is a waste of time.
If you look at the panel that appears when you click on a node, the functions it contains are:
- Remove – In several years of working with Canvas, I’ve never needed to delete objects this way – I always use the Delete key.
- Set Color
- Zoom to Selection – I’ve also never used this function; I always control zoom manually.
- Edit – Never used – I always double-click the left mouse button to edit node contents.
…so, Set Color is the only useful function in this panel, and accessing it requires an extra, unnecessary click.
I understand that other people’s situations may be different from mine, so I propose making the proposed solution optional – controllable in the settings.
Proposed solution
As a solution, I propose adding the “Fast Access to the Color Palette” option to the Canvas as Core Plugin settings. This will move the color selection to the main panel and eliminate the need to make one additional unnecessary click each time you select the color of different elements on the Canvas.
