+1 for Canvas properties!
Please do this! With properties being a standard functionality now, we sorely need them for Canvasses.
I too am surprised that this feature is not available from the outset, and not having the cavas files visible in graph view. I also support the idea of implementing this as a meta-data-card.

I recently started using Canvases more, and the lack of metadata for the Canvas is definitely hurting. Specifically I need aliases, tags, and custom properties so that my Canvas notes can be managed consistently with the rest of my text and excalidraw notes.
this would be great! at the moment Iâve been making canvas wrapper notes with tag #canvas_wrapper
including a link to and relevant yaml within, but itâs all a bit manual

Without metadata/properties canvas are just a gimmick among organized notes
bump!

Adding meatadata to Canvas is an essential next step!
Working with a large vault with many notes comes down to interacting with metadata. I guess it is fair to say that this is the way many Obsidian users extract value from their notes. In this context a note that does not contain metadata is an invisible/unfindable note.
Sönke Ahrens used the analogy of the note being the âshipping containerâ of thinking, standardizing thoughts into individual units that can easily be found and recombined. In this analogy the content of a note without metadata is like loose goods that can easily be misplaced and that can not be easily shipped to the intended destination.
Without metadata the Canvas feels like a naked note and I am somewhat hesitant to add many to my vault.
Please add metadata to the fantastic Canvas as soon as possible!
