[Bug] Toggle Heading toolbar button doesn‘t work anymore

Platform

Obsidian Mobile version: v1.4.0 (80)

After the update all my existing notes looked good. However, when I write a new note, I recognize, that the TOGGLE HEADING button in the mobile toolbar doesn‘t work anymore. If I use the hashtag to write a level 1 heading, it renders as normal text. Level 2 headings and below work by typing the corresponding number of hashtags. I als noted, that -sometimes not always - I have to hit the ENTER key several times to produce a new line/paragraph.

Obsidian behaves like this:

  • when I use the standard theme or the Minimal Theme and all community plug-ins and css snippets disabled.
  • After updating Minimal Theme and all community plug-ins.

I can’t repro this. Can you attach some screen recording? does it happen with all files?

I can confirm that Toggle Heading isn’t working on my iPad. Also, it makes my cursor jump up several lines. The commands to set specific heading levels do work.

Typing a level 1 heading works normally for me.

I haven’t seen the problem of sometimes having to hit Enter multiple times for a paragraph. EDIT: I just encountered this problem in a list. Maybe “sometimes” is “after using Toggle Heading” (I don’t normally use that command).

Hi all,
thanks for looking at my problem.
@WhiteNoise: A screen recording wouldn‘t help because there is nothing I could show you. As @CawlinTeffid pointed out, the TOGGLE HEADING button in the keyboard toolbar doesn’t work. If I type the heading symbol (one or more #) instead, it works.
Also, after hitting the TOGGLE HEADING button, I have to press the ENTER button three to four times to get to the next line. This is not the case, if I type a heading symbol.

Yes, it happened with all files I tried.

@CawlinTeffid: The cursor doesn’t jump around in my case after hitting the TOGGLE HEADING button.

I also see this issue on my iPad, but for me, it’s as if the heading toggle menu isn’t visible: it captures the up-cursor and down-cursor presses, and if I press enter, it changes the heading level to whatever I had (invisibly) selected. And sometimes it then stays stuck with the toggle open (if I press enter again, sometimes it changes the heading level again, sometimes it adds a new line).

This may explain why we have to press enter multiple times to get a new line after trying to toggle headings.

Good job noticing that!

I have noticed the following by accident on my iPhone:
When I press the Toggle Heading button, the menu for selecting a specific header level opens at the bottom left of the screen, but it is instantly obscured by the onscreen keyboard.

I have the same issue on my iPad and iPhone. The issue persists after disabling all snippets and community plug-ins, I am unsure why the system info still lists one snippet as active.

Having the same issue as other users above. Forum won’t allow me to upload mpeg so a recording can be found here. Recording does not capture keystrokes for tool ribbon in obsidian mobile. First third of recording is me tapping the heading toggle 5x, toggling bold & italic on/off to demonstrate functionality, then tapping heading again 5x.

Next third I am toggling individual headings 1h thru 6h then toggling off. On the ribbon it is left to right, 1h → 6h, remove heading. I cycle through this twice.

Last third I am hitting “enter” 10x then once again toggling the heading selector and pressing enter alternating between the two. The pattern with the ”enter” bug seems to be that for each tap of the heading toggle, obsidian will not respond to the enter key.

System Info similar to users listed above w/ the exception that I am using Dark Forest community theme.

Cheers,
PWF

Changed post title to more specifically describe the problem.

Quick addition that heading menu also won’t appear when called from the command palette.

Repro:

  • swipe down for command palette
  • type “togg” or “head”
  • select “toggle heading”

Expected result: keyboard slides down to reveal heading menu ranging from “no heading” to “heading 6”

Actual result: keyboard remains, unclear whether heading menu is underneath.

Also note that this is only on iPad for me. iPhone does not have this issue.

Obsidian Mobile version: v1.4.1 (83)

When I use Obsidian Mobile all Buttons like bold, italic, link, undo, … are working, but the heading-button (H-button) doesn`t in a note. Nothing happens when pressing…

Also in a newly created test vault nothing happens while clicking “H”

Device:
Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ (Android 13)

I am not able to reproduce this issue. Can you record it? It may be an Android issue — can another user reproduce it?
