Broken hyperlink rendering

Once you’ve done the above, delete everything above this line.

Steps to reproduce

  • Install Obsidian (Flatpak)
  • open the sandbox vault
  • copy the content of this pastebin into a file
  • notice how the hyperlink “Wine’s AppDB website is super clunky even…” doesn’t render properly. (this is how I see it)

Did you follow the troubleshooting guide? [Y/N] Y

Expected result

I expect to see a hyperlink titled “Wine’s AppDB website is super clunky even…” (see the pastebin source code), and for the fallback picture icon to not be there.

Actual result

I see this instead: “<fallback_picture_icon> this)” which is pretty much unusable as a link. Clicking on it doesn’t take me to the link target either.

Environment

  • OS: Arch Linux
  • Using official flatpak build

CORRECTION: I meant to say AppImage, not Flatpak.

SOLVED

It was a Markdown issue on my side, specifically: ![[business ideas#due to ["time till open source alternative"](https //x.com/AshkanArabim/status/1830128709157720468)]]. I was basically trying to embed and link to a heading containing a hyperlink. I guess this was too weird for Obsidian to handle.

Removing that embedding solved the rendering issue.
