Brackets next to footnote trigger cm-error

Steps to reproduce

In Obsidian Sandbox, paste the following text:

[][^]

Anything can go in the first set of brackets or after the caret. The text following that snippet will be treated as cm-error (and formatted red) until another open and close square bracket [] appears.

Expected result

Text should not be “cm-error.”

As you might guess, the basic situation where this happens is footnote reference after square brackets, which is not uncommon in technical/academic writing, so seems like it should be fixed. My current workaround is to put open and close brackets after the footnote, which I take out at a later stage in the editing process.
