Community Directory: Bookmarker
I built a plugin for saving web pages as bookmarks that look and feel like Raindrop.io cards, but every bookmark is just a Markdown note in your vault. No external database, no account required.
How it works
Save a page (from a browser extension, an Obsidian command, or an iOS Share Sheet shortcut), and Bookmarker fetches the page, pulls a preview image, and asks Claude (or an offline heuristic mode, no API key needed) to suggest tags and a destination folder based on the ones you already use. You get a quick review step to tweak anything before it writes the note.
The board view is the payoff: a card grid with covers, tags, filters, and search, organized into per-folder categories, much like Raindrop’s collections. Under the hood it’s just YAML frontmatter plus a native image embed, so the note works even without Bookmarker installed.
A few things it also does
- Local cover images, so a card’s preview survives even when the source site rotates its thumbnail URLs
- Bulk tools: dedupe, re-tag, and fix broken links across your whole collection
- Import straight from Raindrop, Pocket, or a browser bookmarks export
- An optional bookmark bar above the workspace for one-click access without opening the board
Requirements
Obsidian 1.7.2+, desktop or mobile. The offline heuristic mode needs no key and costs nothing. AI tagging is optional and uses your own Anthropic API key, billed by Anthropic, not by the plugin.
