It would be useful if block references could refer to text strings within paragraphs (say a span of highlighted text or any designated span of text). When combined with in-line embedding for transclusions in Live Preview, this would make it possible to, for example, include precisely delineated quotes from source texts while preserving a link to the original source from which that quote is drawn.
