Beginner Q - Properties: Created and Updated - How to make them appear on a note?

What I’m trying to do

(Sorry if this is a super obvious issue).

I’m trying to add automatically created and updated properties to my notes. When I watch videos from other creators, these properties automatically populate.

However, they remain dd/mm/yyyy --:–:-- on my notes.

I also recently subscribed to Obsidian Sync.

Things I have tried

googling, adding {{date}} to the yaml, looked through the forum.

adding {{date}} to the yaml

For this to work you need to put it in a template. Then you can trigger the template in your notes (see the Help page about templates). You would want separate templates for Created and Modified dates, so you don’t overwrite the Created date.

I believe the Linter plugin also has a creation date feature. I don’t know if it also handles modified dates.
