I have a question regarding my battery consumption when using Obsidian.
I have a MacBook Air M2 and my battery usually works pretty well. Its cycle count is 214 and battery health is 93%. Battery condition: normal.
I use Obsidian and Zettlekasten method, which means that I have a lot of small notes.
I use the free version, so I don’t have syncing with other devices. Also, I don’t use any plugins.
Still, when I use Obsidian my battery drops significantly. When I leave my laptop overnight without closing Obsidian, my battery drops for ~25%.
Do you have any idea what’s happening with my battery? I am positive it is related to Obsidian because I did a bit of debugging and when I turn Obsidian off I don’t have problems anymore.
If you are running an old(er) Installer version, I’d download and reinstall Obsidian. The latest, Obsidian-1.9.14.dmg for macOS, can be downloaded from https://obsidian.md.

I haven’t updated my Macs to Tahoe yet, but Darwin Kernel Version 25.0.0 = macOS Tahoe which is causing issues with apps using older electron versions (not only Obsidian).
I’d update the installer if you haven’t yet and see how that goes.
The installer has been updated to use Electron v37.6.0 (requires downloading the latest installer). For users on macOS Tahoe, this may improve app performance.
I’ll add: be sure to update any other Electron-based apps that you use as well.
