I’m using the folder notes plugin, and using it to make a sort of MoC with layered bases.
i’m trying to have a base filtered such that it only shows that folder notes that are directly under the folder that the base is in. Like this:
– Folder A
–– /Folder A/Folder A.base
–– /Folder A/Folder B
–––/Folder A/Folder B/Folder B.base
––– {markdown notes in folder B)
The Folder A.base should only show Folder B.Base, but not any other files or subsequent folders inside Folder B.
I have tried using different kinds of syntax formulae, but everytime I used this.file.folder it didn’t work.
I’d very much appreciate if someone could help me with this!
In Obsidian v 1.9.14 (the current public release), this is null when viewing the .base file by itself. For this.file.folder to work, you would have to embed the base in a note or put the base in the sidebar then focus on a non-base file that’s in Folder A.
In v 1.10.2, this.file.folder does refer to the folder when a .base file is focused. Don’t know if this will change again before the next public release.
So if that’s what you mean by “it didn’t work”, then that’s why.
But if you are already putting focus on a note (or if you’re on the latest insider build) and you want help with the filter, then this shows bases in Folder A and all its nested folders:
If your need to rule out bases that aren’t part of your map, add this filter to include only bases whose names are the same as their immediate folders’ names:
