I had a good experience with the sort randomly feature in Obsidian Note Gallery.
I found that as the number of videos, music, art, movies, and shows I put into my vault reached 10,000, it’s going to 100,000 slowly but surely. I found that I had forgotten I had watched or heard some of them. And I would very much enjoy re-watching and re-hearing them, because the past me liked them.
I know it sounds dystopian, it’s like give yourself amnesia so you can enjoy things again as if you enjoy them for the first time, but I don’t really mind, it’s just a good experience.
And I found that if I just search certain date, in a fixed sort order, other content around the forgotten content I forgot would help me to recall what the forgotten content is about, and I would like to prevent that by the random sort feature.
Also, it gives me an experience similar to how websites and APPs push new things to me.
At last, I think it’s better to have a button that works like “refresh”, so I don’t have to close the tab and reopen it for another batch of random content.
