I love the ability to toggle backlinks in the document in preview mode. Is there any chance this could be possible in edit mode. I know we can open the backlinks pane but I much prefer that the backlinks are “just there” when I open a document and I pretty much live in edit mode.

+1. I often stay in edit mode, so having them only in preview mode doesn’t do much for me.

Same! Saw this plugin, Plugin deprecation · Issue #17 · mrjackphil/obsidian-backlinks-in-document · GitHub, wonder if it can be adapted to do so.
