Backing up and restoring Sync file history

I’ve installed Obsidian on a new laptop but it’s been so long since I setup Sync that I’ve forgotten the encryption password to my vault. That’s on me, so no helping that.

Fortunately, I have my vault connected + open on my home computer as well as work computer, so my idea is to start again with a new encryption password. I assume I can either just disable+renable Sync, or I can recreate a new vault from my local files.

I have about half a year of Sync notes history though that I’d like to retain. What process should I go through to keep it?

I’ve searched the docs, forums and Discord but topics are about adding encryption rather than removing or resetting it. Will definitely keep the password somewhere safe this time!
